After almost a year of a total redesign of our building inside and out we are finally open consistently on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm. Our organization has put in many hours to redo the layouts from the flow of the store to the pantry and even in management. It has been a long year of planning and execution. We still have a few more projects that will come in time and may have to adjust schedules to see them through but the majority of the work is done.
One of the best parts of the remodel is that we stayed consistent and that solid foundation in the community for serving food through our food pantry. It has been a blessing throughout the many changes that have been made. Throughout that process we were able to be blessed with a grant from Ozark Food Harvest specifically for food. This grant has continued to provide many of our frozen and shelf stable food items during the last phases of our reconstruction. We would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity and acceptance. It was an honor to receive the funds that truly helped our families we serve during a challenging time. Below is a picture of Tina Viebrock, who is the Fordland Safe Haven Now Store Manager holding the folder from Ozark Food Harvest that included the acceptance letter and information to the grant. What an exciting day that was!!!
So we would like to say Thank You to everyone who took part in the hard work and planning. We would like to say Thank You to the community of Fordland who was so very patient for us to reopen. As a non-profit organization things like this project takes time and we are very happy with the results and look forward to growing even more with our involvement within the community. If you haven’t had the chance to meet Tina or got to stop in and see the store, we would love for you to come in. Currently we are only able to open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm. We are in need of volunteers there to help run the store. If you or if you know someone interested in volunteering we sure could use your help. Just stop by the store and fill out an application. You can also express your interest here on the website by clicking the Volunteer button.
